Tips on picking the right-sized skip
Always pick a skip that is slightly larger than you think you’ll need as this will be more cost-effective than ordering 2 skips!
Most domestic customers pick a small to mid-sized skip, 3-8 yards generally.
Skips can only be filled level to the top of the sides of the skip
Skips larger than 8 yards cannot be filled with heavy waste such as soil or rubble, if you have more than 8 tonne of this type of waste to get rid of, check out our grab hire page
If you are in an area where you are worried about fly-tipping, or want to keep your waste secure (if it is filled with scrap for instance), then a lidded skip would be an ideal choice.
For larger commercial and industrial applications a RORO skip offers the most cost-effective option.
Our Hiring Process
At Sixtowns Waste we are committed to making things as simple for our customers. If you have never ordered a skip before it can be a bit daunting! That’s why we have made the process as straightforward as possible, there are just 6 key steps for you to think about.
Work out which size you need using the guide above
Request a quote, either by contacting us or using the booking form
Schedule a delivery at a time and date that’s convenient for you
Make payment via bank transfer once the skips delivered
Fill the skip with your rubbish
Book a collection online or over the phone
Our hire periods last for 14 days, giving you plenty of time to fill the skip, should you need the skip for longer then please let us know before booking.
Please note that we cannot accept the following in the skip:
Fridges or freezers
Asbestos
Pain tins
Gas bottles or aerosols
Liquids
Florescent light tubes
If you do have any of these items to get rid of please get in touch as we may be able to collect and dispose of them using our Rubbish Removal service.
The 10 yard skip cannot be filled with soil, rubble or other types of heavy construction waste. If you are looking to get rid of larger quantities of construction waste, our grab hire service offers a quick and cost-effective solution.
