WEEE Items We Dispose Of

We accept a wide variety of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), as with all the waste we collect we will recycle as many of your WEEE items as possible. Below are some of the WEEE items that we can dispose of, this list isn’t everything though so if you have something to get rid of that isn’t listed, please contact the team.

Batteries

We are proud to offer our nationwide Battery Safe service. We will provide you with a disposal bin for your site where you can safely store discharged batteries.

Once this is filled we will collect and dispose of your batteries safely. This can either be done on a schedule or ad-hoc basis.

Our primary focus is on recycling your batteries rather than sending them to landfill, which is why we only partner with specialist recycling sites.

Fridges & Refrigeration Units

To make things even more confusing for you, fridges aren’t just classified as WEEE they also fall under the hazardous waste regs as well so if you are getting rid of these you need to make sure they are done so correctly.

We collect both domestic & commercial type fridges, freezers and coolers regularly from schools, shops, pubs and offices.

Our network of supply chain partners can handle any amount of units and we can offer bulk discount rates. For a fully compliant disposal option contact the team today.

Fluorescent tubes & lighting img
Fluorescent Tubes & Lighting

Unfortunately fluorescent tubes contain trace elements of mercury meaning that they also fall under the WEEE and hazardous waste regs.

As they are still widely used, correct disposal is essential to protect the environment and your company's reputation.

Through our supply chain partners we can offer a nationwide collection for fluorescent tubes and other lighting. This can be done ad-hoc or on a schedule. We can provide bins or containers for you to store these lamps safely on your site.

If there is one thing that should be top of mind when disposing of old IT equipment (ITAD), it should be data security. Your customers won’t thank you for saving a few quid on disposal if their data falls into the wrong hands.

Through our network of approved suppliers and partners we can offer highly secure, highly sustainable disposal options at a cost effective price point.

We can provide hard drive wiping, mechanical destruction or degaussing along with the supporting documentation, giving you and your customers peace of mind.

Appliances img
Appliances

Misidentifying what qualifies as Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), causes some of the biggest problems in recycling.

Mixing e-waste, such as appliances, power tools or other electronics, with general waste is a common breach.

As well as being dangerous, the financial punishments for non-compliance can really hurt.

That is why we provide a nationwide collection service for appliances and other WEEE, helping you stay compliant and improving your sustainability.

Alarm panels img
Alarm Panels

Many companies we speak to in the fire & security sector are still getting rid of their old alarm panels and systems by taking them to the scrap yard.

Unfortunately this is not the correct way to dispose of these items as they fall under the WEEE regulations.

We have helped a number of companies in this sector gain ISO 14001 certification by providing them with highly traceable, fully compliant recycling options.

By issuing reports on the amount of carbon saved and what happens to their old panels, they can use this data to impress auditors (and their customers).

Solar Panels

Solar energy is a great option for businesses and consumers to improve their sustainability.

But when the panels and other hardware gets to the end of its life what happens then?

Sixtowns Waste is proud to offer a highly compliant and traceable recycling option for end of life solar panels and ancillary equipment.

Our network of recycling centers can recover up to 95% of the material of a scrapped panel with the remainder being used as waste to energy.

We also provide reporting for this service so you can demonstrate to your customers how much carbon you have saved.

With nationwide collection starting at just £17 per panel, this service is cost effective too.

Our WEEE recycling service is the perfect option to deal with these devices. Our fully compliant service ensures your old chargers don’t end up in landfill and that their valuable materials are recovered.

We can even provide reports showing exactly how much material is recycled and where it all goes after so you can demonstrate to your customers that you are operating sustainably.
